This police springer spaniel really is top dog after sniffing out three guns, a drugs stash and £18,000 cash - all in one day.
Police dog Taxi uncovered the weapons hidden under a chest of drawers in a Hounslow flat, leading officers to seize two pistols, a sawn-off shotgun and rounds of ammunition.
Thanks to Taxi’s super snout, police arrested a 23-year-old woman and later on Taxi went to Brixton where officers found £18,000 cash wrapped in a plastic bag and hidden under a wardrobe after the spaniel sniffed out the stash.
Then it was on to a flat in Stockwell, where Taxi tracked down a small quantity of crack cocaine hidden under a wardrobe.
A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the cash found in Brixton and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
PC Andy Weaver, Taxi's handler, said: ”Taxi had a really successful day with three significant finds in different areas of London.
"This is a great example of how dogs can assist investigation teams in removing dangerous weapons and drugs off the streets of London."
Speaking of the police dog's work, on June 30, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Beyer, from the Met’s Central Task Force, said: "These seizures are an excellent example of the vital work we are doing to make sure that anyone engaging in criminal activity is disrupted.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
