Ann Keen MP has been invited to a series of public debates on MPs expenses and democratic reform.
The independently-chaired meetings, which will be held on four successive nights next month, have been organised by Hounslow’s Liberal Democrat Party.
The community will get the chance to discuss the expenses scandal with parliamentary candidates and independent groups.
Mrs Keen, the Brentford and Isleworth MP, has also been invited.
Councillor Andrew Dakers, leader of Hounslow’s Liberal Democrat Party, said: “Our democracy at a local, UK and European level needs fundamental reform and now is the time for much needed action. People are rightly angry and frustrated at expenses abuses and wondering when the House of Commons will move into the modern era.
“Only if tangible changes are made can trust be rebuilt in our democratic system. This series of four public meetings will give our communities the opportunity to voice their concerns and ideas for change. We can then feed these into the national debate.”
The debates will be held at 7.30pm on Monday, July 6, at Isleworth Town Hall, on Tuesday, July 7, at Montague Hall, Hounslow, on Wednesday, July 8, at St Paul’s Church, Brentford, and on Thursday, July 9, at Chiswick Town Hall.
